Part 6: The Loyal Church in Philadelphia

Revelation 3:7-13

The Main Point: We must be loyal to Jesus, just as he is loyal to us!

The Loving City (v7a)

The Lord Jesus (v7b)

Jesus is the holy Lord. (Rev 4:8b)

Jesus is the true Lord. (1 Jn 5:20; Rev 6:10)

Jesus is the sovereign Lord. (Isa 22:22; Isa 9:7)

The Loyal Church (vv8-11)

They are loyal even though they are weak. (v8)

Loyalty to Jesus isn’t about earthly treasures.

They are loyal even though they are rejected. (v9; Jn 12:42; 16:2; Isa 45:14; Isa 43:4)

Loyalty to Jesus isn’t about earthly acceptance. (Jn 15:18)

They are loyal even though they are tested. (vv10-11; Heb 11:24-26; Jn 16:33; 17:15)

Loyalty to Jesus isn’t about earthly security. (Heb 11:35-38)

The Lasting People (v12)

They will last as worshippers in the temple of God.

God’s loyal people have a better worship to look forward to.

They will last as citizens in the city of God.

God’s loyal people have a better home to look forward to. (Heb 13:14)

They will last as members of the family of God.

God’s loyal people have a better family to look forward to.

Will we remain loyal? (v13)
